Laurie Kampe was born in Arlington Heights, IL. After independent study of art and design as a youth, she went on to receive a Bachelor's degree in Art from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with an emphasis in design. During college she continued her studies through studio classes in drawing, printmaking and sculpture.

Laurie then pursued a career in design and started out as a book and magazine designer. She went on to consult as a web designer and information architect. The result of her design work is in the Smithsonian Institution's permanent collection, and she has received numerous other recognitions and awards.

Laurie continued her studies at the Art Students League of Denver and in 2004 chose to dedicate herself fully to art. She is currently working on her second series of large works in oil, exploring urban spaces often with a figurative element. Laurie has found ongoing support through early collectors and gallery invitationals. She has found guidance through mentors and teachers who taught her to see.

Laurie lives in Denver, Colorado.
